They say everything is bigger in Texas and this applies to the acting/modeling industries too. In fact, the Lone Star state is known for its plentiful acting and modeling opportunities for those over the age of 40. The state smashes the stereotype that only teenagers and twenty-somethings are meant to appear on camera in movies, TV commercials and more.

In 2008, one of the top professional models in Houston was, at the time, 40-year old Mariah Chaney. She was making frequent appearances in runway shows for major department stores, catalogs and magazine/newspaper ads.  A spokesperson has stated that Mariah and other models her age and older should not have any problems getting modeling and acting gigs.

Mariah herself has been quoted as saying that the fashion industry was beginning to realize that using older models was the most effective way to target older consumers.

The NPD Group’s Chief Analyst Marshal Cohen was quoted as saying that brand power is achieved by targeting baby boomers. Older consumers have responded well to ad campaigns featuring models and actors in their 40s.

This is evidenced by the careers of other 40+ models working in Houston, such as Kayla Crenshaw. She regularly gets modeling jobs because she looks like a typical mom and that’s what casting agents are often looking for throughout Texas.

Texas modeling agencies such as Entourage Model & Talent Agency, regularly employ women over the age of 40. They are cast in commercial and print ads for local and national brands.

For any models or actresses over 40 looking for work, Texas is the place to be. It is the hot spot for the best modeling and acting gigs. Many older women are enjoying long and successful careers in Texas.
